I'm posting this here in case anyone will find it useful. There are two mintmark positions; the date is the same on all 1909 IHCs

Great info. Hope to need it someday.
Seems like someone would build a web site where info to identify counterfeit and altered coins could be collected in one spot for easy reference.
Maybe there is a site and I have not found it...

The problem with making counterfeits easy to spot is that the counterfeiters use the same information to get better at what they do...
That said, thanks for the post! It will certainly help identify past counterfeits. =)

Quote: The problem with making counterfeits easy to spot is that the counterfeiters use the same information to get better at what they do... If a counterfeiter is resourceful, he certainly doesn't need this pic to forge the correct mm positions. Ultimately, it's a race between the technical skill of the forger and the knowledge of the collector. Thanks everyone!

i came across this link http://www.ebay.com/itm/1908-S-1909...em336b937ff0 and thought maybe we could tell if it was a 1908S or 1909S (i know, I know, it's probably a 1908S, but I was just wondering if it was 'possible' to tell). Anyway, this one kind of looks off to me. I've seen low grade S mintmarks, and they just don't look this thick.

OH NO. Not another more than one place for the Mint Mark on the Indian cents. I recently printed out the post about the many places on the 08S and now have to print out this one about the 09S. That 08S post had me staring at all of mine for a long time and now here I go again with the 09S. Really nice, clear photos though. Hopefully no one will pop up with many more locations for that S. Thanks for the info though.
