Just wondering why there is no $1 coin in the 1984 mint sets?
there were over 185 million minted this year it is strange that it isn't included in my 1984 mint set
I wanted a nice coin for my dollar set and was dissapointed to find it wasn't included in this set.
I have since bought a proof 1984 coin but a unc coin should have been included in this set , IMHO

Hello trout I am new to this forum,I collect the Australian mint sets as well
1984 was when the 1 dollar note was replaced by the 1 dollar coin but when the mint set was released in the new year the 1 dollar coin wasn't even struck
Mid year the mint sold the dollar in a seperate bubble pack the first dollar pack

That show the lack of foresight in the mint, when they were planning the one dollar coin a year in advance.

I realized too that my proof set didn't contain a 1984 'proof' coin aswell. I was shattered :(

Had to buy the 1984 1 dollar in proof separately :( .... I think the 1988 sets contained the 2 dollar when they first came out. Makes me wonder why they didn't put the 1 dollar in the '84 ones.
