I was offered any of these 4 quarter eagle gold coins by a dealer for $270 each; and also the 2 five dollar pieces are for sale. I was wondering how you (a professional or knowledgable numismatist) would grade each of these coins and if any of these coins represent a good deal. coins4fun Valued Member United States 153 Posts	Posted 10/02/2012 7:55 pm Right, the 2.50 pieces are $270. The 2 Half Eagles would obviously be more expensive. Do you think these coins are worthy of being certified? MS, AU, Cleaned? I'm a novice but for example: to me the 1911 half eagle seems to have good detail/ looks attractive but may have been cleaned. SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 10/02/2012 8:11 pm Ah. Reading comprehension fail on my part. What a surprise. I can't say I'd call that a great price for any of them. It's roughly an AU price for a legitimate slab at auction, and none are really prohibitive in fairly high grade so demand isn't high for AU's. I can't make concrete conclusions regarding grade from the images, but I don't really see any standing out as Mint State. Furthermore, as common gold their value will tend to track the price of gold.
