Not India, Hong Kong, Canada, the best match I get is the Straits Settlement, but the diameter does not match.

Has anyone got a catalogue/guide that has the dimensions of the 1880's Newfoundland 1c? Did they have a normal and a large 1c?. The hair ribbons look a bit like the Newfoundland Queen Vic. image.

I believe that Newfoundland only had large cents similar in dimension to our halfpennies.

Thanks for that info Mr T, that be the case halfpennies being 25.5mm may indeed make that worn out Monarch on the 25mm coin a Newfoundland large cent in the 1880's?
Maybe Kel we're getting closer to solving your conundrum (and hopefully not making it worse ).
