$50 Australia Ink Smudge ... Error Or PMD?

Matt_J Valued Member Australia 88 Posts	Posted 01/20/2013 01:43 am Hi Everyone, Although I've been focusing on coins, I've received this $50 Note that I Thought i'd ask about, The ink on "AUSTRALIA" has a very distinct directional smudge. I don't know much about notes and the printing process, At first I thought maybe I've been given a counterfeit although this is a legit note (Serial glows under UV light, stamped clear window etc..) Any thoughts on this error would be helpful, from what I've read before posting may be ATM grease or grime, or damage from a solvent, although I have thoroughly examined and it does not remove as a grime or grease, and there is not surrounding damage to the other colours which would suggest it was not a solvent. I've seen a few & banknotelover, exactly right as far as drying, so the note prior to this one in the DM08/FM08 213203 will have a small/light amount of ink on it. Report this Post to the Staff
