Why won't you tell us what coin it was?

I'll put my money on a 1934-35 Melbourne/Victoria Centenary Florin.

Pictures? Link to the NGC Certification Number (and picture)?

Though PCGS and NGC make mistakes from time, I trust their call on most coins vs non graders

It is possible that NGC made a mistake not slabbing it proof. I think a lot of early Aussie proofs get PL rather than PF anyway. Some early aussie proofs can be tough to determine as proof strikes if the grader doesn't have experience.

I would love to know what the coin is and which dealer you purchased it from though.
