I was helping a mate move a lounge today and a 20c fell out when we were loading it on to the truck. When I picked it up it turned out to be a 2004 pointy A, in quite good condition.
I'm interested in any other strange/different places people have found coins .

Not really a coin as such, but something unusual (?) from an odd place, found this in the coin machine this afternoon when depositing coins from last Friday's noodle: pays to check the reject coin chute before dropping off your coins....

I have worked in recycling plants. At a domestic waste (recycling bin stuff not putrescibles) plant I found a number of modern coins from the world over, also a few pre decimals. At a building material recycling plant (sorting out bricks, concrete, dirt etc from demolished buildings) found all kinds of old coins (19th century UK shillings, a '37 crown, old pennies) but really beat up and/or corroded.
Best finds were on the paper line at the recycling plant, found a few teller training notes, pre decimal cheques and a few banknotes including 700 Yuan(never got as lucky as some co workers as some found a few thousand dollars and one guy found 240,000 dollars)
