The obverse is normal.Any guess would be better than mine as to what this is,would this be considered a type of rippling,maybe a die polishing error? thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

I am inclined to say those are an effect of the rolling of the copper-nickel strips (i.e., rolling marks). You commonly see a similar effect on the 1968-1970 nickel dollars. Alexer Pillar of the Community Canada 2632 Posts	Posted 10/08/2013 02:22 am I have a nickel with the same lines. I think the coin was not annealed leaving it harder and more likely for the roller lines to survive the strike force..just my opinion Report this Post to the Staff
