Snooba Pillar of the Community Australia 1360 Posts	Posted 08/23/2007 06:02 am I have been told by an expert grader, who specialises in Australian Pre-Decimals, that rim dents and dings are more easily forgiven in a gold coin than in a copper one. Due to the very nature of gold, due to its softness, a small dent doesn't really affect the grade of a sovereign. This coin is definitely in at least Uncirculated condition, and very probably in Choice. Report this Post to the Staff
Learjet Pillar of the Community Australia 655 Posts	Posted 08/23/2007 10:05 am Yes I've heard that gold is graded a little more gently than some other metals. If it was a Florin for instance I would be pressed to give it Choice. It was purchased as Choice, and paid a low price too so I'm not complaining. There were several other Choice Edwards to choose from and this one was the best to my eye. Halfa, the two marks near his nose and mustache appear to be two light scratches under the eye magnifier.
