1. Great pictures. Perfect background for this coin, and fantastic depth!

2. I really can't tell if that's rub on his hair above the ear, and just below the shoulder clasp. Seems much more pronounced at the clasp but I don't know when a MS coin looks like there. I have to believe if it was anything remotely significant you'd see it on her chest also because that seems like a very high spot. Having said that, the uncertainty of rub takes me to mid-high AU. I think the only thing really hurting this coin is the pitting and dings on the reverse, and that boxing cut above his right eye.

Thanks for highly rating this coin! I don't think it will be an AU but I was thinking a lower EF - I don't have too much experience grading coins but I know this is in nice condition for its age.

Yes, I was thinking EF on the British scale, AU on the American one.

I don't know anything about these, but it looks like there is almost no wear, which would make it AU. Nice looking coin.

Very nice coin. I think it should go AU or better on the American scale. It appears to be original/uncleaned. Congratulations!

Just noted it isn't a penny but a half-penny!
Fact is they still hadn't started putting the denominations on the coins but on the farthings (since 1799 - "1 farthing") so you have to go by size of the coin which may not be obvious from the photo. I have a huge coin dated 1850's which I am sure is a Victorian penny..

Very nice coin, I'm going to say AU. Nice bold SOHO mint mark on the rev.

G'day,

The model for Britannia was, apparently, the Duchess of Richmond. And her chest was a "significant ... very high spot", which was popular in circulation.
On a much more serious note: I collect the coinage of 1820, so I have embraced the coppers of 1797~99, and 1806~07. None of mine have as much detail as this lovely example.
I have never before noticed the letter "K" between the blunt end of the trident and the shield. Any idea what it signifies ?

That's a great question - unfortunately I am not yet very knowledgeable about this coin so I cannot say. But I have a feeling someone else can tell us...I did try googling it, no success..
