Hello, I came across this coin and thought it was very interesting, upon doing research I found that people on this site are knowledgeable towards this so in the hope I can get some answers I am posting this, I assume since it is in such great condition compared to most I see online I assume mine is some kind of fake or replica but I would still appreciate any information anyone could give me on it please. Thank You all for taking the time and reading my first post on here.
The regular 1787 silver coinage was struck without a collar with only the patterns using this. The piece above not only has a circular edge from the collar, but also a raised rim - again a feature not seen even on the patterns. If in doubt as to whether it is original or a modern concoction, check with the many images to be found on the net. The original coins are sometimes seen to be a little irregular from flan spread due to the lack of collar.
