Hoof Over Date Varieties - Collectible?

pginrh Valued Member Canada 456 Posts	Posted 01/11/2014 6:35 pm The only 'recognized' hoof-thru-dates are the well publicized 1946 hoof in six and the 1949 hoof over 9 and they do command a significant premium.... the other date hoof-overs (and there are a lot since the man-power demand on the Mint personnel from WW-II made for very poor quality control) do not command a premium unless you can find a collector who specializes in Minor Varieties such as die cracks etc. I have to admit that I am one of those collectors, specializing in the George VI 50 cent Major and Minor Varieties. I started by purchasing the Zoell catalogues but have since far surpassed the number of varieties that he listed for this era. Edited by pginrh 01/11/2014 6:41 pm Report this Post to the Staff
