IMHO,your pics are too close. Looks like a plating issue,split plating.

I agree with John1, just looks lime a plating issue. It is good when you post coins to post a picture of the entire coin also.

If it is just in that one area, it might be a piece of plating that is struck onto the coin. If it is when you look at the edge, do you see a stop/start area on the coin?

It seems to run only on the reverse and starts around 5 o'clock and goes up past 9 then stops just about 12 or maybe just past it. So from 5 till just past 12.

Do you see copper through the edge or gray? It might be a split plating caused by a counting machine if you see gray? If it is a struck through foil you should be able to see the ends where it connects. If the outside rim is normal, then it maybe be split plating.
