Got two sets of rolls from the bank.

I have a 68, and a 67. Are these 40% silver? The only thing is they dont have a full silver rim like on lets say a pre 64. I'll post pics in a few.

Yes, 1965 to 1970 are 40% silver clad.

They have a core (79% copper, 21% silver), which may or may not be visible.

The edge tarnish on a 40% JFK is a bit weird sometimes, I have one that looks almost black on one side of the edge and like silvery-coppery on the other.

After 40+ years rolling around in pockets you'd look a little weird too the JFK half was 40% from 1965 to 1970, the 1971's have the sandwich look with solid copper in the middle.

You get to where you can spot the 40% halves as opposed to clad from a block away in a cash drawer. Forget about the edges and compare the radically different color of the 40% versus clad half dollars. Happy hunting!

That is true but I have missed 40% ers until I got to the date. It happens.

I almost passed over a 1945-S 35% nickel the other day, it just looked too NEW, like 60's-70's, theni flipped it over and saw the S

Every time I think I can spot silver in a stack I get a curveball
