This has to be wrong.

#6 - $34,050 - My sister has collected proof sets for years. These sets come out every year, commemorating the the start of a new year of minted coins. I have to wonder if she has either one of these

Not surprisingly, the listing has ended without a sale.

Actually, this lot is listed as sold by ebay for the $34,000+ price. What's even weirder is that the original asking price was the princely sum of............. $38. See screen shot.

My guess is that the buyer meant to offer something like $34.50 and made an error- which the seller promptly accepted. Or, the seller is up to something weird....!

@shermae: I agree. The buyer probably wanted to offer 34.50 and maybe auto-correct on their phone or maybe an extra zero plus no odt equated to $34,500. Not like the buyer would've ever paid that price.

Shermae- Nice detective work. Funny that the ebay blogger didn't pick up on this.

Ah.... that does make sense. Not sure why it wasn't showing as a completed sale when I looked. I'll chalk it up to the Pinot Noir.

I thought ebay prevents buyer from making offers higher than the BIN?

Why would ebay prevent it if it's in the ebay's interests to have a higher price so ebay gets a higher commision?

And yes, you can make a higher offer: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Biddin...q-p/17311121

So if that's the case, to show up as a sale, the seller would have had to accept the offer. I'm thinking the sale never went trough though.

Not the most bizarre coin on ebay I've seen. I've seen a Franklin half for $193,000,000 before.
