CaptainFwiffo Pillar of the Community United States 4132 Posts	Posted 01/20/2015 12:30 pm My experience when collecting Mercury dimes is that 1926-S is the date most likely to have been screwed with by someone in the past. Most of the mid-to-high grade examples you see are badly cleaned. It's also one of the most poorly made issues of the series and one of the scarcest, period, so finding a nice looking example outside of the lower grades is almost impossible.
