I have been assuming that this coin is barbarous or unofficial. Just really looking for confirmation, I can't find the reverse under the "real" ones.

A shame someone has cleaned it down to the metal.

It certainly looks barbarous to me Pish. Still a scarce "Emperor" to have, so you are one coin ahead of me. I do need to get one of his someday though

Thanks AM, I have a few barbarous coins, I don't actively seek them out, but I had to have one of his. I will put barbarous on the label.

Where any of his coins considered official? They only circulated in a small part of the empire and he was not really considered a true empire but a usurper. I'd call it unofficial.

But I think it looks more unofficial than the unofficial ones, if you see what I mean :)

A lot of PAX AVGs turn up with the A closer to the P. The major problem is distinguishing the barbarous from the early official. In this case, id probably lean towards a barbarous origin, though the bust is well cut.

The clue to the reverse type is the letter X at 11 o'clock on the reverse.
Does not leave too many alternatives !
Sax and violins ?

The PA is also nearly readable and the spacing a known variety for the type. I can also make out AV[G]. The figure is Pax, regardless of the legend here.

Thanks you Ben.

In that case I have a slightly more official version here
