... but it kind of looks like it spent some time there. This coin is not in the greatest shape, but I think its kind of cool looking. Any help with what it is? 22mm and very thin.

The three crowns remind me of Swedish/Danish currency. Other than that I have no idea.

Three crowns are from the Swedish coat of arms and I can read IOHANN. There is a King Johan III of Sweden, maybe this is from that era?

A pic from the Swedish Wikipedia and the text IOHANNS on the top right looks like it matches.

I don't know anything about hammered coinage but the era of his reign matches the era for hammered coinage.

Looking though my personal favourite coin catalog I can almost find a perfect match for your coin, but there's only one detail missing, Yours has a '9' instead of '8'.

The marking seems to indicate 1592 when comparing a pic of a 1582 coin
