Found this guy tonight. It doesn't appear to match any of the many 1940 s Retained Cuds on cudsoncoins. If you agree, BJ, and want me to send images, just let me know.
Hmm, I don't think so anymore. The mint mark looks off and the Cud pictured on Cuds-on-coins is larger as well circular not so squared off.
Are you sure it's a die crack? Almost looks like a lamination in your first image but I also see what could be the crack continuing on the rim at the top, not so much at the bottom. Circulation can take that off though
It is a Retained Cud. One only has to look at the extra thickness of the die crack along the wheat ear edge and see that it has vertical displacement. I can use your images, just send me your name.
