Re-Punched Mint Marks On 88 & 89 Pennies

The striking breaks a small cut in the plating and air starts to work with the zinc. It usually raises for a while, then falls when enough space is dissolved and it only get worse after that. Just a pair of regular Cents with the same problem. Always a dead giveaway on these is the direction of the movement of the dies. The lower part of the mint mark is usually the area affected. The rest of the denominations had the P mint on them for a number of years. But I believe they were hand punched till 1990.
