Can anyone tell me why the #3 is much wider than the other numbers.

I just looked at one I found today. Its in between the two images you posted. I don't think it is die wear as it usually affect the devices sides pointing to the rim and yours is the opposite edge of the device. But the metal appears pushed, so I'm thinking Machine Doubling. It is distorted on the higher side of the device but it is very minor. Again not a collectible, but not the result of hub doubling on the die.
