The link below has images of two pennies I believe to have re-punched mint marks. The images are clickable for more detail. As I've never had a confirmed re-punch and I'm curious to see if I'm right.

Nice images but both show the same thing. The striking breaks a small cut in the plating and air starts to work with the zinc. It usually raises for a while, then falls when enough space is dissolved and it only get worse after that. Just a pair of regular Cents with the same problem. Always a dead giveaway on these is the direction of the movement of the dies. The lower part of the mint mark is usually the area affected. Sorry, keep searching and posting as something will eventually appear.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed the zinc showing as well on the one, but I didn't know what would have caused it - now I do!

Coop - do you know of any example photos of a true RPM on the 85D-89D varieties?

Gotta question: from 1985 onward, weren't mm added to the master die, which would make cases of RPMs a bit more rare?
Or am I opening a "can of worms"?

The added mint marks to the die started in 1990 for Cents. The rest of the denominations had the P mint on them for a number of years. But I believe they were hand punched till 1990.

The lower right is platting separation.
Very minor RPMs

Note doubling is not in the direction the rim that most plating splitting happens.
