1986 Rim Error Caused By ? - Coin Community Forum

Pete2226 Pillar of the Community United States 3334 Posts	Posted 01/12/2016 09:38 am Seems to me that most coin roller damage I have seen is 3 mm to 4 mm in from the edge and leaves a gouged out semicircle. This does not seem to fit that description. I think it is a slight MAD because the rim all but disappears on the opposite side of the OBV. I don't remember ever seeing this kind of separation on the rim of a MAD. Then again maybe I have and didn't pay any attention to it. Report this Post to the Staff

Pete2226 Pillar of the Community United States 3334 Posts	Posted 01/13/2016 1:44 pm When I look at the tilted die strike image on error-ref, I see significant weakness of the strike opposite the strong rim and also weakness on the reverse - enough to eliminate some devices or portions of them. I see some possible weakness on the coin in the OP opposite, but not that clear - only eliminating a portion of the rim demarcation. Also, there appears to be no weakness on the reverse. So is the coin in the OP simply an extremely mild presentation of a Tilted Die Strike Error? Report this Post to the Staff
