My knowledge of is zero but interest in is high probably wouldn't have
Been had it not been for finding a 1944s dime,a 1952 Wheat penny,a 1944 wp,and a realy messed up-1927 or 1917 penny.while screening rocks and glass garbage out of my garden dirt (dug a 25ft by 30ft 3ft deep and screened it all by shoveling and a home made screen.needed the rocks for a walkway to garage.cleaning out the rock I found the coins eversince then I've been trying to figure out the coin collecting /grading so on so forth.never looked at my change before but now I cant stop so I signed up here . Thanks for your help I'll be receiving soon

At first grading can be overwhelming, if you have an iPhone you should check out PCGS's photograde app. There are also a couple other apps they created that are very helpful.

I also recommend getting a RedBook. In these you'll find most of the information you'll need about values, mintages, basic errors, etc.

The threads are always informative, sometimes funny, most often seeing some new coin/error/type you'll want to look for or collect. Utilize the references here, the tutorials and glossary are a great starting place. Get some resource books on areas of peak interest, maybe the Mercs, or Lincolns for starters? Happy hunting!
