What a drastic improvement . .

Get the green spots off and that's a fine penny . .

A fairly easy year to find cheap in high grades, so also a great coin to experiment on.

Incredible transformation!

Wade: two good reasons to restore a coin like this...

#1 you get to practice so if you ever have a pricey coin you don't mess it up.
#2 it opens up a wide range of coins most people would cast aside that you know with a bit of TLC can make look really good again.

I hope you notice that where the verdigris spots were there are now pits.
Your coin looks much better but it will always be a cleaned coin.

Thank you all !
@ Wade/AgCoinAu - Agree with both , I wanted to try my hand at it , not destroy a rare/rare-ish coin , and educate myself in the process. turned out pretty good .

@ kanga- once cleaned always cleaned, regardless.
Although started with a toothepick I switched
to a bamboo skewer instead of a toothepick.
I found that you can sharpen to a point and it will last much longer than a sharpened t-pick.
Once again thanks

Nice result.

I bet one of CCCS or ICCS would put it in a holder without the "cleaned" comment.
