1964-D Kennedy Half Dollar Doubled Die? (Coneca 1-O-V \ FS-50-1964-D-101)

Definitely a doubled die. It looks like CONECA 1-O-V also in the CherryPickers' Guide as FS-50-1964D-101.

Nice coin and rare in MS-65 or above. Circulated examples even though very nice can be found in the $20.00 range. Some can be found in what a dealer would call scrap silver and are definitely worth looking for.

Foundinrolls is very much correct. Before I started working at the coin shop, I cherry picked about three dozen of the DDO,TDO, and QDO coins ( mostly DDO's ), along with a bunch of RPM's from the melt bag. These are circulated coins, but when was the last time you saw a 64 Kennedy worn past XF ? And most are AU. I would still do it - they never look at the Kennedy's before bagging them- but I don't have time. I suspect most other dealers do not have time either. If they let you search that kind of stuff, there can be lots of stuff to find- get a Cherry Pickers Guide ,it is immensely helpful. Melt bags can be a great place to get coins worth a bit more than you will pay at melt, I just know there have been 42/1-D Mercs getting through since we don't get to look that closely at every coin and they are hard to spot.
