Yea, dirty coin which added to the color of the toning. I'm sure after washing it up and giving it a acetone bath, the toning should remain quite dark (I'm not advising you to CLEAN your coin, never clean a coin using harsh chemicals or hard surfaces. I'm advising you to use a solvent like acetone which will not hurt the coin. You can also used distilled water to remove surface material with a very very soft cloth-but no forceful rubbing!)
