My wife and I were out of town a couple of weeks ago and I stopped by a LCS I hadn't been to before, I asked what he had for junk halves and he brought out a old metal coffee can about 1/4 full.
I wasn't expecting much, and most of the can was late 30's to 40's. I spotted a 38 and flipped it over not expecting to see a mint mark and there it was, a lovely D staring back at me. :) I got it, and another half of a roll for $6.25 a piece.
I don't make my way that often but I'll def be stopping by next time to see what else they may have missed..

Congrats on the pickup! So is the 38-D a scarce coin?

It's a semi-key date and would always command a premium.

That's a great cherry pick! Congratulations!
