Help With Cause Of Date On 50 Cents

I have a 50 cents that has the date 1983 appear invisible to the average eyes. But with the help of standard magnifying glass one would be able to see the date. The surface of the coin is normal but the particular part of the date area appears to be sunken and you can feel it. Is it possible that acid or some liquid has been used? Or grease during process of the coin?

Without a close inspection, this is either a 'strikethrough' or a 'die-fill'.

Simplistically, a strikethrough is when there is grease on the coin while a die fill is the other way around.

As Yass says, most likely die fill or Struck Through Grease.
