Just picked up a new scope (Celestron 5 MP Handheld Digital Microscope Pro) and checking out a '78 Morgan. The headband, liberty, is this normal or is this doubled letters?.

Different angle. Playing with light intensity or moving around different angles does not change what looks like doubling.

Back of coin does not appear to have these doubled letters but I love the tail 7/8 feathers!

I think it is a 7 over 8 tail feathers. But I'm not an expert on Morgan silver dollars

Looks like you may have a VAM 38--awesome closeup pics. a pict of the total coin obv and rev also helps in attribution.
