Is this is a "D" to the left of the MM "D"? If so, would this be classified as "misplaced" or other term?  |

Good question @CO. I don't see a west RPM listed for '64-D quarters on varietyvista, but you likely knew that. Also, the two mintmarks should almost certainly be almost in the same area rather than so far separated. I wish I was more educated to form an opinion but it does look like a "D" was supposed to be there

Could probably dip it, if it doesn't disappear, you might be on to something, if it does disappear, it's not an additional mintmark, but it's still a circulated 90% silver still worth melt. Seems like all to gain and nothing to lose to me.

Is it raised, or incuse or level with the fields?
If level, then it is probably a stain.
If slightly incuse it could be a dropped letter?
If raised a bit, it might be a RPM, but I doubt it as it should be stronger.
But it isn't damage. Why? Note the location. Nothing would hit that area as it is protected by the branch. I would keep it safe for now till you know more about it.

Leave it El Natural. If it is dirt it might wash off. If it is a stain it won't some off. But I'd leave it alone for now.
