Don't normally pull these, but thought the pattern was weird on the reverse for circulation wear.
Thoughts?

Yes a weird pattern to be sure. Are you sure that it isn't just a dried liquid (coffee, cola, or glue)?

I was thinking the same thing as Spence. A stain maybe? What they call a "cupholder" coin?

I have a good idea it's not a stain only because the pattern seems raised compared to the darker parts of the reverse. Will try and get different angles on the coin.
I would try to clean it but don't have acetone or cleaner(the alarms are going off in my head just typing that)

to the CCF!

I'm thinking it's a 'cup holder' coin as well. Whatever caused the stain could have etched the copper surface as well. I worked in a QC lab for Coca-Cola and saw what the acid can do in it's strongest and weakest solution. A little copper doesn't stand a chance.

yeah that makes sense.

Didn't wipe off with a light rub with my gloves, but suppose a stain wouldn't wipe off.

Thanks for the input, Will chalk it up as a cupholder coin as suggested

So where did we end up on if a zincoln can even have a lamination or not? I thought I read it is not possible. Hermz, your coin looks like a so called cup holder coin to me.

That's good to know John, I didn't realize that!
I can accept the cup holder idea.
Just a first time for me seeing it corrode a pattern like that into the coin I suppose.
