I bought this coin in Iran in 1975 and am wondering if one of the community members can ID it?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the CCF!

Your coin looks similar to this one

Iran, Afsharid, Shahrukh AH 1168-1210 (AD 1748-1796), 3rd reign.

One side matches (the smaller pattern). The other side doesn't exactly match, but I think it says about the same thing. Hopefully one of our members will come along and be able to read it for you. The coin in Zeno is called Type F; yours might be another type from the same ruler?

For future reference with ID requests it helps a lot to include the diameter in mm and the weight to the nearest tenth of a gram. Guidelines are at

Seeker55..Thanks for the info and link! It is similar to my coin! The fellow in Iran that I bought this coin from told me that it is a rare coin...any idea as to it's worth?

I am planning on putting it on ebay sometime in the future if I can get a definite ID on it.

Thanks again,

John

PS: Next time I will include the diameter and weigh of any coin that I might ask help on!
