I'm not sure what was under that crud looks likes its original to the coin to me. it looks raised so maybe thats why the crud gathered around it. you never know whats going to be revealed if you acetone or vedicare a coin.
I do see what looks like very fine hairlines maybe from swiping the coin across the entire profile. all in the same direction. acetone did good. it may grade straight but those hairlines really point to a details coin. I don't think its harsh so it comes down to the coins grade and how they feel about them. I'm still at VG10
@pan, those hairlines look like an old clean to me and not from circulation... Although maybe it slide back and forth for a bit! Either way, I bundled it with a number of other things including some ASEs at .70 above spot... So I'm pleased with it; not a lot of Barber coinage here.
