Quote: @NUMISROB...I actually like the New Guernsey 1/2 penny reverse I suppose it's OK and it fulfils its purpose - just not very exciting! I also find the early Australian penny and halfpenny designs rather dull - adding the kangaroo really brightened them up!

Adding to triggersmob's contribution - Sweden did Gustav no favors on their coins. Sweden 1 Krona 1967

I suppose the designer was just copying faithfully what he had in front of him, but to me the Mr Men £5 reverse isn't exactly the pinnacle of British coin design...

For me, here are the coins I find just not very good. 1. Peace dollar2. SBA Dollar 3. Kennedy half dollar4. Modern Commemoratives (with the exception of the 2001 D Buffalo $1) 5. Modern circulation coinage (seriously, the shield on the cent from 2010-present is amateurish and sloppy. The shield on the Shield nickel looks better. Mrs. Fraser's Washington portrait is nice, but, too big for the quarter. Enough reverse side gimmicks! Statehood, ATB, women's, enough already! Go back to the Eagle, please!) 6. Classic Commemoratives from 1946-1954.
