This dot is a common characteristic seen in the mintmarks on all 1909-1916 "S" Lincoln Cents and is a great first step in authenticating a 1909-S VDB. The notch is very well defined on some examples, but it is often not as strong on others, so the lack of this dot is, by itself, not a reason to condemn a coin as counterfeit." Marv65 Bedrock of the Community United States 10601 Posts	Posted 08/18/2025 4:11 pm So the 1909-S VDB has only the shallow N on the reverse. All other 1909 Lincoln Cents have either/or shallow and deep Ns. And I'm guessing after 1909 then all Wheat Cents had the deep N. so the #4 coin would be some variety of a 1909. Then the other 4 could be anything except a 1909-S VDB. Report this Post to the Staff
