This is PMD and I cringe at this type of damage along with the counter stamp type of damage.

When I see damage like this, my eyes slowly go down to the date while I'm thinking "Please don't be a key-date, please don't be a key date". So, if there is a silver lining, the damage nulled the value of a common date, rather than a key date.

Severe damage from graffiti. Fortunately, the perpetrator only destroyed the value of a coin worth no more than a dollar.
