Washington Proof Quarter Overstruck On Gold Half Eagle

hokiefan_82 Pillar of the Community United States 3740 Posts	Posted Today 1H 31M ago I just noticed this listing on GC; a 1970-S quarter overstruck on a 1898 gold half eagle! PCGS has graded it PF66, and bidding is already up to $22k. While a fascinating error, I can't imagine paying crazy money for one that was almost certainly intentionally made. Since the different grading companies use various qualifiers for artificial/questionable toning or color, I don't see why there couldn't be some qualifier for errors that are most likely intentionally manufactured.
