I'm not all that familiar with the Walker halves. can you explain the obvious parts that make this a fake please?

Also, the auction ended and the 'winning' bid was 405.99

I looked into the seller's sold items, and, to my shock, he has previously sold two other fake Walkers. A 1929 S and 1923 S, pictured below:

Yes, I'm curious about the fake assertion as well. Hoping to see some definitive evidence--I may be missing it.

On the 1923, the date is a smoking gun. The digits are all crooked and different sizes on the coin in question, while the genuine article exhibits a much more uniform date, as pictured below (credit to PCGS CoinFacts).
Fun-Thread---Worst-Coins-On-Ebay,-Etsy,-Craigslist,-And-Other-Buying-Sites!

The 1929 S's reverse has a rim that is far too narrow, and the "S" mintmark is of an incorrect style. The depth of relief of the eagle is also incorrect--a genuine example shows an eagle which is more raised from the fields. The rim is inadequately upset from the design as well, and even blends into the coin around "UNITED", which never should happen on a Walker in that high of a grade.

With all due respect, if you cannot tell that at least the 1919 and 1923 are fake within a few minutes of looking at them, you should probably stay away from buying raw coins of this series. The 1929 S is a different story--its obverse is genuinely deceptive.

Always look at genuine examples of Walker's on PCGS for comparison before buying raw, especially if it's a key date.

I was viewing the original images posted to this thread on my heavily fingerprinted smart phone display--not an optimum viewing solution. Thanks for the follow-up.

Yes, thank you for the additional comments. As I have stated above that I was unfamiliar with these walkers. I intend on buying at least one for my 7070 album and I need all the intel I can get so I buy an authentic one.

THAT is why we are here - to learn about coins (and of course to view the coins of others - like an extended collection I can enjoy)

I hope my comment didn't come off as offensive Dearborn. It was merely meant to be a word of caution, as the last thing I'd want to see is one of my fellow CCF members get scammed.

Don't worry, I took no offence at all, I agree with you entirely and I was just emphasizing your statement a bit.

I was looking for 1800s Hawaiian kingdom coins, when I came across these two nuggets. One's grossly overpriced, while the other is almost certainly counterfeit.

Wait - $425.00 is too much for a 2008-D Hawaii State Quarter? Oops... Why didn't you tell me that last week?

As for the second seller - everything that los6173 has listed is a bad fake.
