So What Do You Roll Hunters Do With Mutilated Coins?

Roller42 Valued Member United States 138 Posts	Posted Yesterday 2:36 pm I'm going through a couple of boxes of dollar coins. When I peeled this roll, I just had to take a photo of it. 15 damaged dollars in one machine wrapped roll and 1 dollar short, to boot. I know the fed does not take damaged returns anymore and most banks will not take them, either. I guess I could split them up and put one bad one in each roll I return, but I even hate to do that. Maybe a charity tip jar? What do you do with the damaged coins you run across in roll hunting? "I like money. I can't believe you like money, too. We should hang out." If it's still barely identifiable, even with the bad damage or zinc rot, I'll roll the pennies back up and cash it in at the bank or cash it in at Market Basket. Errers and Varietys. But if I get several mutilated 50p coins I take them to my 'dump' bank in separate bags and try to hide them so that they're not obvious when I hand the bags over to exchange for banknotes!
