Is this a feeder finger strike mint error on this New York State Quarter? It looks like there's extra metal around the edges on front and back. It obscures the y in Gateway and the m in Freedom and the "unum" on the bottom of the back, and much of the United States of America (ited Sta & rica), the ar of "dollar" and the mint mark on the front. Or is it just a very beat-up quarter that someone took a hammer to? If it is a mint error, what is it worth?
Not a mint error in any way, shape or form. there is no possible way for that to happen when the coin was struck. That is what is known as a road kill coin. Also suggest you look up what a feeder finger error is.
