I have had this coin for a while, back in the 70's I paid a whole $1 for it. Never could decide on the grading and all the small issues. On the Reverse, weak strike? Lots very defined features, some not so much. Would appreciate some education on this one.

I do not know a lot about Shield nickels but do like them. Looks like yours may have had a slight Grease Filled Die instead of a weak strike and looks to have been a later die stage with some heavy Die Deterioration that has led to the doubled look that some of the devices have. Looks to be a very nice grade though, possibly worth having graded by a TPG. Others will chime in and give you better advice on the grading.

ADDED: Also, because of the late die stage, there are lots of die cracks.

Not my specialty at all but most of what I am seeing is Longacre doubling and die cracks.

I actually thought about that and may be on the letters but I was focusing more on the stars and it looks to be going all around them which looks more like deterioration. You would know more than me about this though.

Longacre on the stars will go all around them as that's pretty much what he did with the dies. Doesn't really look like Die Deterioration to me, just Longacre.
