Another of the big bronzes of the antonies gathered into my set. Well on the way to compete that one.

Aelius-Sestertius,-Pannonia

I was initially worried about the uncleaned incrustations in the edges but I am now confortable with the coin being genuine. Found it in a past auction in Lucernae whose owner has a good reputation. Still surprised it did not sell then but that made my luck now. Like other Aelius sestertius I saw the surfaces are a little concave and that protected the design from greater wear. T[R] POT COS II can barely be read but PANNONIA is nice and clear.

RIC 1059 (old), RIC II.3 2656, minted in 137 in Rome.

Pannonia the province is personified in the reverse figure, holding a military standard. The obverse shows the bust of this co-emperor of Hadrian who narrowly missed making it to sole Augustus.

Cool reverse and very pleasing patina on that coin jecz79!

Here's a big bronze that of Aelius that also wasn't much loved in an auction, except by me!
