I bought a bag of large cents and found some nice known varieties including 1817 15 stars, but then I came across this oddity. Any thoughts?

Very strange color. An old cleaning? EAC grade would probably be AG3 net FR2. The die variety is Sheldon-293, an R2. The rarity is the same as the only other variety for this year (S-292). A fun little bit of trivia, the reverse die for this coin still exists! It was used along with the obverse die of 1823 N-2 to strike the 1823 restrikes.
