I thought Liberty nickels were like the bucking bronco on the back of the Montana quarter - a silhouette. None of mine have any detail. That is an absolutely beautiful nickel. Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6399 Posts	Posted 03/01/2010 12:21 pm Looks mint state, with some hairline scratches near the date and a few tiny dark spots (carbon spots?) that should limit the grade. I agree with MS-62. Back when I first started semi-serious collecting I was surprised that this coin was so cheap. I presume that the racketeer-nickel inspired design change caused many MS coins to be placed in long-term storage. When finally released they were snapped up as collectibles, resulting in a large population of high-grade examples. Does anyone have an informed report about this situation that they can share?
