Besides the obvious cleaning the giant gash on the reverse doesn't help either.

Well one thing to remember is cleaning doesn't change the grade (necessarily) but it does make the coin less appealing and demand less of a premium. Same thing with the Gash. (correct me if I'm wrong guys)

However, If you were to submit this to a TPG it would probably comeback as "Genuine" with a code representing "cleaned" but you could still evaluate it yourself as to its "grade"

With that said, I would say this is about a F - VF. I say this because I See some wear on the high points of the obverse and then letters around the center of the reverse are starting to look a little soft (could be a weak strike).

Just my opinion though. Anyone else? Thoughts?

Definately VF, there's clear separation between the cheek and jaw.
