My wife picked up a coin today because she liked the design. After doing a little research we have found that it is a 1894 Japanese Trade dollar. We can find very little info on the coin or its value. I'd grade it out at around VF30-35. Anyone able to give some info on its value, and maybe a little history? Anything would be helpful!

I don't know of any Japanese Trade dollar coins struck in 1894.

This is an example of a Trade dollar coin:

If the coin is really struck in 1894, it would be a Meiji 27 coin like this one.

Which one is it?
