coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 03/18/2011 12:32 am Lamination is the term that happens when grime gets mixed into the alloy that becomes the sheets of metal that eventually become coins. Delamination is the process of a piece coming completely off the main piece - in other words, the lamination happened, and the piece is gone. A lamination peel is when the piece that was laminated is still attached to the main piece. This is what you have. This is my understanding of the terminology. Since my specialty is not in error coins, someone else may want to correct me if I am wrong here. Report this Post to the Staff
