Not sure if this is a planchet defect or PMD (acid).Found two that sounded funny when dropped and they both weight 5.4g instead of 5.6g.

Honestly to my newbie-ish standpoint , it looks either like acid or some other solvent , or even casting. That's one awful quarter!

I would agree to acid. I don't think that quarter could have reached that state within the mint.
