Not much into nickels and would like to know if this die clash is bold enough to be a keeper and have a premium. The clash is on both sides of Jeffersons' bust. What do you all think? Thanks much,John1

A keeper in my book, aside the fact it's an '83.

I keep my minor clashes in a small plastic coin bag and the better ones in 2x2s. I'd toss this one into a keepers bag, but often you can see more in person rather than in the photo, at least in my very short experience attempting to photograph a clash.

I would keep it; prices on good die clashes are increasing. We must remember that the die clash is one of the few error coins that is not being returned to the Mint for recycling. Broad strikes, off-center strikes, double strikes (or any multiple strike coin) or any thing that makes the coin larger than it is supposed to be, will not fit through the coin wrapping machines. So, companies like Strings and Sons, Wells Fargo, Loomis, Brinks and others, who are getting their coins from the Mints, will return coins that are rejected from their wrapping machines to the Mints.

So, while there are still error coins to be found (even though quality control has increased at the Mints), a portion of the error types that were found in bags of coins are not being found in today's coins. However, die clashes are one of those error types that still make it out of the Mints and thus for the error collector, one of the few errors that can be had reasonably.

I've been keeping a tube with all the nickel clashes I find, that's better than most. I don't know if yours has much value, since you're only a nickel, I'd definitely hang on to it.

For some reason, I rarely see clashes showing up well on the obverse, but have quite a few that show up on the reverse (most have been polished down, I only have a few that are as clear as yours). This is my best one:
